One year ago tonight

We are happily preparing for Benjamin’s first birthday tomorrow. It will be a very low-impact event. He’ll go to daycare, we’ll work, then, there will be cake. The house smells of Ian’s famous Lemon Cake, just as it did one year ago tonight. We took cake to the hospital for the nurses last year and we’ll take it for his teachers tomorrow. The big change is that the three of us will get to enjoy the cake, since last year, none of us had the chance.

I am so very pleased he’s not in my belly anymore. He’s so much more fun on the outside, and I am so much happier in my skin.

I realized a little while back that iMovie will use my iSight camera as a video recorder. Naturally, I point it at the most adorable thing in the house. As the video capture shows on the laptop screen while it is recording, the subject occasionally becomes fascinated with his own adorable self.

I can’t be bothered to learn how to edit it (yes, I realize it is easy; it is a mac). So, if you have 8.5 minutes and high speed internet:
